December 28, 2005- A Palestinian folk dancer from "al-Mawwal" folklore group performing at the opening ceremony of the International conference "Celebrating Nonviolence Resistance" last night in the Palestinian city of Bethlehem. The conference started with massages of support from the Palestinian National Authority Mahmoud Abbas, former US President Jimmy Carter, Archbishop Desmund Tuto, and local dignitaries including Methlehe Mayor Victor Batarseh ant its governor Salah al-Talmari . They emphasized their personal commitment to Nonviolence as an appropriate instrument for the Palestinian struggle for Freedom and Independence from the Israeli occupation. The conference took place in the shadow of Israeli restrictions, particularly the Separation Barrier.
