Ismail Abu Shanab, a Hamas leader, was killed, along with two of his bodyguards, yesterday when Israeli helicopters fired missiles into a car in Gaza City. Local journalists estimated the crowd at nearly 100,000, one of the largest to turn out for a funeral of a Palestinian killed by Israel since the start of an uprising for statehood almost three years ago.
